Dwarfs prefer to build underground, of course, but many times it is just not feasible. This little cabin is but a hollow dug into a granite boulder, no bigger than a large tent, and meant as a simple shelter and not a permanent residence. It belongs to a family of hunters that own many shelters like this one, spread evenly throughout their hunting grounds in such a fashion a hunter is never farther than 6 to 8 hours away from one. They are always built in inconspicuous sites in a way they are not easy to spot, and are sometimes completely hidden to any but the ones that know where to find them.
The necessity for such shelters arises from the nature of the prey they hunt for: Goblins and Orcs- Dangerous game that requires safe havens for when business go south.
Most of the times they are used just as a shelter from the elements and a place to spend the night but essentials items and some emergency supplies are kept stashed at all times in secret vaults inside.
Those pest control hunters provide a vital service to their communities in order to keep trade routes and the aboveground sections of their territories safe for the common people and they are consequently much respected by their fellow citizens.
Each hunter carries a master key that will open the locks in every cabin owned by his family. The buildings pass down the inheritance line as well, and are the backbone of the family business, considering the vast area those hunters have to constantly patrol in order to keep up with the fast breeding fiends.
